The panel is named ‘Vertical Farms: The Future of Farming?’ and Jen is set to talk alongside Professor Anthony Dodd of the John Innes Centre, Dr. Paul Kroon, Principle Investigator of Quadram Institute, Jason Hawkins-Row, CEO at Aponic International Ltd, and Adam from LettUs Grow.
Jen will be talking about vertical farming and growing plants under controlled conditions. Jen, the other researchers and industry leaders will also be talking about the opportunities and challenges of vertical farming and how research is informing their decisions.
The most exciting part of the talk for us? Vertical Future is providing crops as a taste test (as pictured with the boxes here), where our vertically farmed produce will be compared blind to the usual methods you see for sale in supermarkets, all of which are typically made in glasshouses and polytunnels, and, at this time of year, would be imported, whereas our vertical farms can grow domestically all year around.
We’re quite certain they won’t be able to tell the difference, and who knows, they may even prefer our produce!
